Movies: Holy $@#&ing @$%#!

I don't want to get folks unduly excited about what may turn out to be just so much hot air, but word on the street is that a third film in the Ghostbusters is on its way. This bit of tinsel town gossip comes from a curious source: CISN Country, a contemporary country station out of Edmonton. I kid not. Seems on of the CISN jocks had Dan "Ray Stantz" Aykroyd on his show and Aykroyd let drop that an all-CGI animated Ghostbusters flick was in the works. He also let drop that Bill Murray was going to be contributing his voice to the CGI Venkman.

For the confirmation, go to the second part of the interview.

This might all be pie-in-the-sky B.S. – but a man can dream can't he?

We came, we saw, we kicked its ass..

The light is green, the trap is clean.

That's the bedroom, but nothing ever happened in there.
What a shame.

Such great 80s memories..

Oh dear... the cynic in me can't help but think of Blues Brothers 2000...

There's something in Ghostbusters humour that I think is inherently 80s. The bad guy is from the Environmental Protection Agency. They make fun of the nerd because he's a nerd and we laugh because we're mean bastards. Bill Murray can perform negative reinforcement on ESP ability experiments (i.e. shock treatment) and subvert the test to hit on his female students - and we like him for it. And everyone can thrust their fists in the air and say "YEAH!!"

I'll still hope for the best, but I'm afraid it might not measure up to many of the things that the original Ghostbusters has inspired since.
