The laugh and the scare are involuntary reactions, and who hasn't been momentarily amused or scared by a bad movie? The fans, likewise, will sit through a terrible Adam Sandler (or Woody Allen or Steve Martin) in hope of finding one fresh gag, set-up or look, in much the same way as a Jason fan will watch Friday 13th Part 13, while happily admitting it's a bunch of reheated crap, because they get the memory of previous scares in the interstices of the frames (or as you say, just to enjoy the predictability).<br /><br />Finally, the main similarity is that you can't fake a laugh or a scream. The response to horror is mostly involuntary which is where the thrill lies, the 'response' to porn needs a bit of work, grunt if you will, much less of a thrill, I would imagine.
